Please reach us at christopher@dt-mk.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
At the moment we only offer MANUAL lessons.
This is deliberate! Did you know that if you take and pass the practical driving test in a manual car you can drive both manual AND automatic cars? If you take your practical driving test in an automatic you will ONLY be able to drive an automatic.
Some people decide to learn in an automatic as they think it will be easier - generally manual drivers have more 'on road' experience by the time they are ready for their test and are more likely to pass!!
Is an automatic easier to drive?? Yes!! Of course it is - but it isn't as much fun!! Also, imagine the scenario in a few years time - you travel for an exotic holiday, you have limited language skills in that country - and now (after many hours travelling, you are at the car rental place and have to explain that you have a license that only allows you to drive an automatic!? Good Luck!!
At Driver Training Milton Keynes we believe you should make the effort to obtain a FULL license - and to us that means manual cars!
Obviously everyone is different but the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA - the people who set and administer the driving test) say that the average time to pass the test is 45 hours with an approved driving instructor and an additional 22 hours of private practice.
Yes, all of our vehicles are fitted with dual control pedals. These allow the instructor to operate the brakes and clutch from their own side of the car - they are mainly used for demonstration but could also be used to help you stop if needed!
We take a different view on this question depending on where you are in the learning process. If this was your first lesson it would be very daunting and would probably prevent us achieving the lesson goals. If you are much further along in learning to drive it would make sense to develop your skills while working with an experienced instructor to support you. In the event of severe weather, a decision will not be made until your instructor has been out and assessed the roads for themselves.
All of our modern vehicles are leased. We have a maintenance agreement with the lease company (although all of our cars are covered by a manufacturer's warranty as well). Our maintenance agreement ensures that in the event of a breakdown, a suitable dual controlled courtesy car will be provided until the return of our usual vehicle. This temporary vehicle is usually available within 48 hours.
We even carry a full-size spare wheel in each vehicle (this is very unusual these days) to ensure that even a simple puncture can be managed by the roadside.
Simple answer: Bletchley and Leighton Buzzard
We have also covered tests at Aylesbury, Bedford, and Northampton in the past.
Sorry to hear that you aren't well... please stay home and protect the rest of us!!
Unfortunately we do have to charge for lessons cancelled with less than 24-hours notice - please consider this if you think you are coming down with something.
We use a Blackvue DR750X. This model records on three channels and allows us to record the view from the front of the vehicle, the rear of the vehicle, and the interior of the vehicle. This camera is there to protect us both, is remotely accessible, and allows us to review any specific events that we can learn from.
Cameras are not allowed to record audio or a view of the interior during the practical driving test. Driving examiners have their own body-cameras.
This is a question of law... The driver of a vehicle (this may be YOU) is automatically responsible for any enforcement fines (e.g. speed, bus lanes, box junctions, parking) at all times. Your instructor would be expected to provide details of the person driving the vehicle.
Unfortunately it is not possible to take cash payments. Payment must be made via the app or by bank transfer by the evening before the lesson. Receipts will be automatically generated and sent to your email address (please ensure this is up-to-date).
